Amy Thompton, Dean of Instruction
I have been an educator for over 21 years. A few of my roles over the past 18 years in Denver Public Schools have been: English and ELL teacher, Humanities Facilitator, DPS Secondary ELL Specialist, and Teacher Effectiveness Coach. In the past 4 years at West Early College, I have supported our middle and high school teachers as an Instructional Dean. I also lead Mindfulness activities and classes for students, parents, and teachers. I am so blessed that I get to bring my passion for equitable quality education for all, as well as Mindfulness and Yoga for all, to our amazing West family!
EJ Rodriguez, Dean of Instruction
I have been an educator for over 35 years both in the Dominican Republic, where I grew up, and the USA. Last January 2020 I completed my 19th year with Denver Public Schools and proud to play for this team at West Early College. I have had the privilege to serve our educational community in the roles of Math and Science Teacher, Assistant Principal, ELA Director for DPS, and Instructional Dean/Coach. I also have the honor to lead our campus-wide Guitar Ensemble where our students can explore the guitar and perform different genres of music from flamenco guitar to the classics. I am happy to say that I have been at WEC for the last six years and have enjoyed every single moment of the work we do for our students and families.
